The start of another week

Although they all seem to blend into one if im honest, Andys started a fresh week on site and below is a lunch time photo and evening photo, Sue & I have been down this evening moving bricks and forming the Bridgemere reclamation yard as you can see in pic 3, all the reject bricks that we have a plan for as they look more aged than the rest so they will come in handy for a restoration project on site oneday. Popped to see Arthur this evening and he is hoping to harrow and then seed the field this weekend which will be nice, steel work ordered today for the door on the garage and an initial plan put into place for collecting it and lifting into position. So out at 7.50am today and back home at 8.50pm, then did this while Sue is getting some food ready, cant wait because im starving and sausages smell great !!

We were at the House building and renovating show at the NEC on sunday which was great to research things like heating system, ground source or air source and the fact that we will need to get the "Heat Loss Coefficienty" of the house calculated to work out the quantity of KW we need to produce..... but before that can be done we need to work out what insulation the house will have (the old part of the house) but to do that we really want to know we can get planning permission for the extension... but but but but... I think we should look to starting Bridgemere reclamation instead.. !!

Well its getting tall now and we can just see over it, unlike Andy who cant !!

Here we have a pic from yesterday and one from today, the front pillars are both ready for the steelwork, the blocks on the 2nd pic are now all 1.5 blocks from the highest point around the sides and then they can set for a week and be ready for the roof trusses on Sunday 3rd April hopefully. Sue & I are off work tomorrow, hoping to arrange the steelwork tomorrow, build a small fence between the front lawns and then have a meeting at 12:00 with the chap from greenenergycheshire about Rainwater Harvesting and Geothermal heating, conductor loops and bore holes and all that stuff to see what we can learn. Then Saturday down at the NEC for "The National Homebuilding & Renovating Show"  Its all go here never stops but its so much fun ! So much infact that I exposed my buttocks to Andy this evening on site being a joker and Sues poor Auntie walked outside at the same time..... upps !

Door entrance height

is where we are upto, the right pillar is upto the height of the steel for the opening and the left probably will be by tomorrow so this is by far the highest we have got anywhere on the build

We moved loads of bricks

Went to the site after ork today, had a fire because Im an arse'onist or something like that, burnt all the plastic packaging and things that burn really well and give environmentalists something to worry about. Then Sue was in charge of us moving all the bricks from a pile to around the scaffolding, we moved about 400 think, took some photo's and came home. May be back again tomorrow as there's a small fence that needs "dealing with" and afew small jobs if its nice again. Just a quick note Andy did another 6 day week so I think if you keep a builder on side and help them, are nice which strangley he thinks I am and pay them when they want paying (but sort the payment details before they start, then they know the ground rules) then you get them on side and they work amazingly. Every building site needs an Andy.... but only we have one !!  " pics for you all, one of the rear store, side door opening and internal wall and the other of the left side of the garage and the integrated electricity pole.

as I was saying before my post went missing..

This is all in 7 days, weve had Andy on site for 7 working days since the floor was poured and his mate has done 2 days, its very impressive that he has done such an amount in 7 days and its even more impressive that we have a builder thats worked for 7 consecutive days, he's really keen to get cracking which is ace.
So yesterday Sue & I moved 96 of the blocks that you can see, Sue was head of block logistics, we cleaned around the site brushing and tidying broken bricks away. We do that so Andy can carry on doing what he's good at, then we watched Andy for a bit passing him bricks, I climbed the fence to take the picture on the previous post then took some from the roof of Andys van, mainly because im a kid and wanted to climb on the roof. A load of bricks getting delivered tomorrow morning and we are nearing the stage where we need to order the I beam for the garage opening and possibly order the door. Another busy week ahead so ill keep the pictures coming so you all have something to look at and read.

Over & out from Kieran (Sue & Karli although they are in bed already)

Saturdays pictures as promised.....just on a Sunday

Just typed a great story to go with these pictures and its gone somewhere, im not doing it again because im going for a drive in the Capri, I may do it later if your lucky because it was good.

Higher bricks

Kieran said: I wont update the blog today, there are only so many times I can put pictures of bricks on there
Sue said: No you need to Mum likes seeing pictures of bricks

So Brenda, here are more bricks. Andy has his equally as skillfull builder (so he informs me as I was concerned)  friend with him tomorrow so 2 men bricking all day and again on Friday, naturally ill put pictures on each day but the weekends pictures should be pretty impressive I think. Dont forget people the 1st wall brick (above the floor) was laid on Sunday 6th March and we are this far already and one person has done them all.

The highest wall so far

is the rear wall, 6 courses high and the end that you can see to the right in the foreground is where the side access door will go. This garage will be getting tall by the end of the week,,,, watch this space.

August 2010 / March 2011

Bricks, Bricks & More Bricks = Walls & we nearly have some....

Well we got da floor, we got da weather, we got da builder sooooooooooo

We got da walls, well nearly. Now its starting to look like a building again after we filled with concrete, im reliably informed from Andy that weather permitting from now onwards it will go up quickly, shouldnt have any waiting around for stuff. The next thing we will need other than things for walls (bricks, ties, & insulation) will be the lintle for the door and that will be coming from down the road, literally so cant take too much delivering... well collecting because digger man Richard will be doing that and then lifting it into place but we are 2.1 mt off that in height yet..... watch this space it will get filled quick.

We got a floor

And its chuffing good. Andy has organised a great team and has taken my instructions for a very good garage floor and done an amazing job. We will see more at the weekend when its nearing walkable but it looks great.
